Client Management
When should you discuss the price of a project with a client?
The cost of a project should be discussed early in the project life cycle to avoid any misunderstandings or awkward interactions. For instance, if you are fairly new to consulting, a client may assume you will accept a lower rate. In some cases, the client may not even have the budget to pay for your services and has assumed you will do the work for free or in exchange for “exposure.”
Project fee, project budget, payment schedule, and billing structure should be made clear and put in writing from the outset to avoid any confusion.
