What does a professional services consultant do?

A professional services consultant will have different duties and responsibilities depending on their industry and the type of services they offer. For instance, the work of a marketing consultant will be very different from that of an IT consultant.

Typically, a consultant is brought on for their expertise, contacts, and knowledge of a particular industry. Let’s say, for example, that your firm is upgrading its on-premise server infrastructure and other IT resources. An IT consultant may be brought on to support your existing IT department and advise on the technical aspects of the project.
