Quote Comments and Task Descriptions with a Click!

When we talk to people in person, it’s easy to clarify the details and explain your point instantly. Remote collaboration is a manageable challenge with real-time comments and updates in Wrike, but what if your team is separated by time zones? For example, while a worker from Europe is sleeping, his American colleagues might come up with long work discussions. How can you stay in context with your comments in such situations? If this is the case, you might often need to quote a particular fragment of a comment or the task description to make sure everyone understands what your response refers to. With today’s update, you can do this in just a click! You simply select the necessary part of your teammate’s comment and click on the quote icon appearing to the left. The fragment is automatically pasted into a new comment along with the time stamp and the author’s name. If you already started typing a comment, the quote will be added to the end of it.  The same easy way of quoting works for task descriptions, so you can quickly ask questions about a particular task detail. We hope this cool update will make your work in Wrike even more comfortable and easy!

Wrike and GitHub: Collaborative Coding Gets Much Easier with Wrike’s API

Wrike and GitHub: Collaborative Coding Gets Much Easier with Wrike’s API

Update 12/16/2014: We are happy to announce the release of our API v.3 with better functionality and feature support for developers. Unfortunately, this update means the integration with GitHub is no longer supported. You can still use Zapier to connect Wrike with GitHub. If you have any questions, please contact our Support team. Many software teams use services such as Github for collaborative coding. These services are a great help when it comes to sharing code repositories, collaborating on them together, and syncing developers’ efforts. However, project managers of teams using Github often don’t have special tools for keeping projects on track and reporting the progress. LiveNinja solved this problem with a single ninja throwing star: they combined Github’s social coding environment with Wrike’s strong project management features. With the help of Wrike’s API, they now automatically transfer every task they create in Github to Wrike, allowing them to organize their work in a more productive way. Let’s take a look at their smart solution! Two Tools, One Up-to-Date Picture LiveNinja builds and maintains a platform that allows users to find experts in any field - everything from cooking to law to graphic design. Despite daily stand-up meetings, maintaining transparency with a growing team soon became a real pain. Team members couldn’t quickly review up-to-date plans and couldn’t always keep track of current priorities in ever-growing Github task lists. Besides, there was no smooth way to sort overdue tasks or tasks completed during a certain time period. “At some point we realized that instead of a clear project picture, we just had a daunting list of never-ending issues,” says Emilio Cueto, Chief Technology Officer at LiveNinja. To get their work more organized, the team started using Wrike as it had all the features they needed. And in order to avoid the redundancy of logging tasks in both tools, they used the Wrike API to unite both tools. Now whenever someone creates a new task, adds a comment or completes the task at Github, the changes are automatically reflected in Wrike. How LiveNinja Benefits from the Integration Here’s how LiveNinja’s project management changed for the better after integrating Wrike and Github: 1. Easy prioritization of bugs and urgent issues Prior to integration, every new bug that was added to the already sizable list of bugs (each one needing to be fixed right away!) got labeled “Urgent,” “Priority,” or “Critical.” The list of all these urgent bugs had grown too big to handle in a standard list format within Github. After integration, LiveNinja now tags all issues according to their importance in Wrike (e.g. with standard labels P0, P1, and P2), and then prioritizes each list. This way, they have a clear understanding of which bug to tackle next. 2. Instant access to an up-to-date roadmap Wrike’s interactive timeline is irreplaceable for planning new features and important milestones. While the team’s manager creates dependencies between related tasks and quickly adjusts current plans, Wrike ensures the team is automatically notified about all  changes. 3. Comprehensive insight into the team’s progress Custom reports are a great time saver for Emilio Cueto. They enable him to sort any data he needs for evaluating the team’s progress in mere seconds using filters such as: completion date, particular team member, or tag (e.g. browser version, particular feature, etc.). Suddenly, LiveNinja could look at their task list and Gantt charts and quickly find answers to questions such as: “Will this next release be on-time?” or “When is it feasible to start planning that new feature we have been talking about?”   In a nutshell, the integration allowed developers and project managers to enjoy the best of both worlds: the code collaboration platform of Github and the project management tools of Wrike. Get the Code If the integration code sounds interesting to you, you can get the files here. LiveNinja is open to any improvements to the code suggested by other Wrike users. And if you decide to use it, don’t forget to send a thank-you tweet or a Facebook message mentioning #LiveNinjaDotCom. Thanks, LiveNinja, for sharing your code with the Wrike community and helping to make life better for other Github and Wrike users!

Swearing in the Workplace: Announcing Part 1 of Wrike's 2016 Work Management Survey

Some people say sitting is the new smoking, others would say it's actually... swearing. In a time where working from home is common, polos and khakis are replacing suits and ties, and cursing like a sailor is seen as an expression of passion for your work, the fine line between work and home grows thinner and thinner.  We decided to dive into the world of informal communication in the office and see how thin that line actually is. We ran a survey across 1,542 workers addressing language and informality in the workplace. Turns out, the majority of people do swear in the workplace (57%), however 41% feel that swearing is too casual and unprofessional. Here are some other findings from our survey: 49% say they occasionally swear in the workplace, while 25% say they swear daily  More women (60%) admitted to swearing than men (55%), however men who do swear in the office do it at a higher frequency than women 94% say they swear more in face-to-face conversations vs. email or online communication 66% say they are more likely to swear if their boss swears, while 25% report "it doesn't matter" 33% would not consider accepting a position in an organization in which swearing is strictly banned Check out the complete findings from part one of our 2016 Work Management Survey: What are your thoughts on swearing in the workplace? Share your opinion in the comments. Interested in seeing the results from our previous Work Management Survey? Download the free 2015 Work Management Report.

Wrike Named to Deloitte's 2015 Technology Fast 500™

Last week, at an awards reception in Mountain View, Deloitte released its 2015 Technology Fast 500™ and named Wrike the 116th fastest growing company in North America. Hooray! The Technology Fast 500™ is an annual ranking of the 500 fastest growing North American companies in the technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech sectors. Awardees are selected based on percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2011 to 2014. Wrike grew 778% during this period and ranks as the 116th fastest growing company overall. Of the more than 50 Bay Area software companies on the list, Wrike ranked within the top 12. Peer companies in the overall software category include Zendesk, Workday, Box, Marketo, and Splunk. Our CEO and founder, Andrew Filev, credits Wrike’s ranking to the growing need for enterprise to adapt new flexible, scalable solutions for increasingly collaborative digital work, as well as the growth in global and virtual teams for the company’s sharp revenue increase. Wrike is now sold in 120 countries and 10 languages and adding new regions every month. Thanks to Deloitte for this distinguished award. We're proud to be a part of the #Fast500! For more on the Technology Fast 500™, check out our official announcement or visit www.fast500.com.

New Reports: Real-Time Insights with One Click

According to our 2015 Work Management Survey of over 1,400 office workers, the greatest cause of work-related stress is “missing information”; 52% of participants rank this as causing “high” or “very high” stress for them. What's more, almost half (46%) said most or all of their meetings were focused on just status updates. This lack of visibility not only causes stress for workers, but also leads to project failure and delays. On average, it costs companies over $100 million for every $1 billion spent on projects per year. But we believe it can be better! That's why we're so excited to bring you our newest feature: Wrike Reports. Instead of spending hours gathering data and crunching numbers, you can now just click a button to quickly visualize all work statuses and progress in easy-to-digest formats, giving you the visibility and insight you need to run your business. How Beta Clients Are Already Using Reports We've spent most of this year exploring, interviewing, and beta testing with clients just like you to find out what they're struggling with as they manage work. Interestingly, we found most people encounter the same challenges regardless of industry. People spend hours gathering info for status updates while managers still struggle to get the big picture view of where everything stands, what is going well, and what is at risk. "I need a simple report of how busy my team is, so I know where to schedule the next project" was a resounding call. So we set off to build Reports, an easy to use reporting engine that gives you the ability to create custom reports to get to the insights you need. Reports simplify the ability to instantly gather accurate, up-to-the-minute project status information, and then share that info with the people who need to take action. You are able to easily get to the big picture, and also drill down into the details when needed. Gone are the days of relying on infrequent, manually collected updates in order to know where work stands! Some of the most commonly used reports during the beta program were: Weekly Exec Update: Understand the number and status of projects by owner Team Performance: Compare the performance of individuals by key metrics Activity Reports: Understand how the team is using Wrike Accomplishments: Report on the work completed last week, month, or quarter Giving You Back An Entire Workday When reporting from a work management tool instead of manually collected updates, you can slice-and-dice the data to find insights that were previously inaccessible or took hours to reach. Since all your work is already in Wrike, you can start every day with a birds-eye view of what each person on your team is doing, where every project stands, and thus, where you need to jump in to assist. That brings real confidence in your team's performance. We found that by using real-time Reports, a typical marketing team of 10 can save at least 10-15 hours per week on status updates and account management work, effectively giving you back an entire workday. See a problem? Drill down to quickly find the cause. Need to see the status of all your projects at a glance? We've got you covered. Want to report on what the team accomplished last month? It's 3 simple steps to get real time status of your data in beautiful charts and graphs. Stay tuned for new charts and graphs coming soon! Wrike’s real-time reporting is now available to all Wrike Enterprise customers. Whether you're an expert or you've never touched Wrike at all, you can try out Reports for your team now by starting a free trial of Wrike Enterprise. We hope you enjoy working with Reports, and that they provide you even more visibility into work, save time, and help you make smarter and more informed decisions. We are always eager to hear your feedback — please leave your thoughts in the comments!

Welcome Wrike Graphite: Reshaping the Experience of Online Project Collaboration

Welcome Wrike Graphite: Reshaping the Experience of Online Project Collaboration

In the past couple of weeks, we have been teasing you with sneak previews of the new features we had in store. But there’s a big thing that we have kept secret up until now. These were not all separate feature releases that we were putting our efforts into, but part of Wrike’s new user interface. The trumpets ring, the curtain falls… and here comes the much anticipated moment when we’re proud to introduce Wrike Graphite! What you’ll immediately see in Wrike Graphite is the new look of the interface. What we targeted is making the design neat, clear and very lightweight. We know that when it comes to daily productivity, it’s the little things that matter. Pure, contrast palette, restyled folder tree, intuitive icons, and more – we hope that each of these details will make it even easier for you to navigate Wrike and spot all the necessary project info in your workspace. Besides rethinking the design, Wrike Graphite goes much further. While we were creating magic with this new version, what we had in mind was no less than reshaping the whole experience of working online together! Function-wise, one of the core components in this shift is a built-in timer which doesn’t only track your work time with pinpoint precision, but also broadcasts your work  progress to the team. A typical online work scenario is usually very transactional – one colleague asks a direct question, another one answers him. It gives you laser focus on the details you need, but this pattern misses the benefits of accidental interactions that we enjoy in the real world. The model of "management by walking around", however funny this title sounds, helped many successful leaders, such as Steve Jobs, to be very effective. Wrike has been delivering this concept through easy info sharing, a flexible model of task following, and convenient real-time notifications on the web, in email, and on mobile. In Wrike Graphite, we made another big step in this direction: with literally one click on the play button of the timer, you start subtly broadcasting to your team what you are working on. It's a push-pull model, which means that you're not imposing this info to your colleagues, but if they "walk by", they'll know what you're working on and will be able to contribute, if necessary. For people who work across the building, country, or globe this is transformative for their online work experience. Along the same lines of making project management more approachable and simple, we rethought the process of scheduling tasks and setting dependencies between them. When you have a clear vision of how tasks are connected to each other, you can easily build this sequence right from the new task view. Just as easily, you can later reschedule these tasks, or get the full picture of your projects on the timeline. We know that sometimes every second counts, so we added another powerful feature - HTML5 desktop notifications. Thanks to them, your team will be able to react to comments and approach new tasks the moment they arise. Last, but not least, we put extra effort into making your e-mail experience even better. This time we've redesigned and improved email notifications. We’ve added the familiar patterns you enjoy in Wrike’s Activity Stream, so that these interactions become more collaborative and you - more productive. As you can see, the magic mix of Wrike Graphite includes a lot of big and small updates that have one goal in common - make a positive difference in your day-to-day work. In our coming posts we’ll take a detailed tour of the key new features, so that you and your team can make the most of them. Can’t wait to see the new Wrike Graphite in action? Simply enable it for your workspace in Wrike Labs right now! Important note: The old user interface will be disabled for all users on September 30, 2013. We wanted to make sure that you have plenty of time to get adjusted to the new Wrike. Keep in mind, our customer care team is always there to help you with any questions or concerns that you might have!

Technology enthusiasts from 22 countries travelled to Belfast’s Titanic Quarter last week for EnterConf 2015. The new enterprise technology conference, run by the organizers of the popular Web Summit, made its Belfast debut at T13 Hub on June 18-19 and featured talks on cybersecurity, cloud computing, future of SaaS, and big data from 70 renowned speakers including Wrike Chief Revenue Officer Seth Shaw.  Seth joined David Hale, CEO at Gigwalk, and Margaret Canning, business editor at Belfast Telegraph, at the conference for a panel discussion on “Worklife Balance for the Mobile Employee”.   While in Belfast, Seth appeared as a guest on BBC’s Good Morning Ulster and caught up with business reporter Clodaugh Rice about EnterConf, the role technology is playing in Wrike’s business, and the opening of Wrike's new European office.  “Technology plays a huge part in what we do," he told Rice.
