Project Management 2.0 at PMI Monterey Chapter

Andrew Filev , Sunday, April 25, 2010 comment Comments (3)
The spring turns out to be very busy this year. We have a lot going on in the development of our project management software, Wrike. In addition to that, I was invited to contribute to a couple of authoritative project management resources, such as Projects@Work and the ICPM, as well as to speak at a few events. I already wrote about my session at the SV PCamp. Another one was the PMI Monterey Chapter meeting, where I gave a talk on the use of various Web 2.0 technologies in project management.

PMI’s New Media Council: Count Me In!

Andrew Filev , Wednesday, December 30, 2009 comment Comments (6)
I’m excited to let you know that I was invited to join a group of influential bloggers and podcasters organized by the Project Management Institute! From now on, I am honored to say that I am a member of PMI's New Media Council.

This group was launched in October 2008 to help PMI and its members understand new and emerging trends in the project management profession, especially those being discussed in new media channels: blogs, podcasts, social networks, Twitter, etc. I believe this is an outstanding initiative that will help to bridge the gap between traditional project management techniques and opportunities for enhancing collaboration on projects that are offered by the development of the Web.

Talking to Project Shrink about Project Management 2.0

Andrew Filev , Monday, November 16, 2009 comment Comments (1)
Bas de Baar from Project Shrink interviewed me at the PMI Global Congress and asked me about Project Management 2.0 and our project management software, Wrike. Project Management 2.0 is an emerging trend, and it constantly evolves.

At the PMI Global Congress that I attended in October, I met many project management practitioners. Some of them asked me about my views on Project Management 2.0. One of the questions was “How is Project Management 2.0  different from what many organizations have today?”

I decided to summarize my answers and came up with a short list of key factors that distinguish Project Management 2.0 from traditional project management.

Networking, Education and Project Management Resources at the PMI Global Congress

Andrew Filev , Wednesday, September 30, 2009 comment Comments (0)

In the first week of September, I started getting ready for one of the biggest project management events of the year. I expect PMI Global Congress to be a very valuable experience. Though my view of project management is not canonical and sometimes generates hot debates around it, I do believe that PMI is doing a good job at building connections between project managers and allowing them to share their experience and skills with each other. PMI events play a significant role in moving the whole industry forward, and I’m happy to take part in one of these events this October in Orlando, Florida.

What Project Management Books Should You Read?

Andrew Filev , Tuesday, July 14, 2009 comment Comments (4)
People often ask me to advise them on the best resources that will help them deepen their project management knowledge or start their own project management journey. One of Wrike’s clients recently asked me: “I’ve been given the green light to seek out any useful resources in the field of Project Management to further my professional development. I’ve Googled a few things, but can’t really decipher what would be beneficial vs. a waste. I was wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction and recommend  particular books or seminars that I could look into?”

I thought that it would be better to post my reply here, so that more people could take advantage of the advice.
