We believe Wrike’s vision of managing work from ideation through strategy and execution differentiates in APMR and beyond
"Work management" isn’t one market anymore. It’s several, each with its own analysts, its own buyers, and its own definition of what "good" looks like. As the trusted work delivery platform for people and AI, Wrike competes across a number of these categories. We believe one of the most consequential is Gartner Adaptive Project Management and Reporting (APMR) market.
APMR speaks directly to the people who keep strategic work on track across an organization: PMO teams balancing waterfall, agile, and hybrid delivery models in the same portfolio; product managers trying to connect roadmaps to actual shipped outcomes; marketing and operations leaders running complex, cross-functional programs; and anyone accountable for turning a plan into real progress, who needs visibility into where resources, budgets, and timelines are actually headed, not where a static plan said they’d be six months ago.
A Visionary, Four Years Running
I’m proud to share that Wrike has been named a Visionary in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Adaptive Project Management and Reporting, the fourth consecutive year we’ve been placed in this quadrant.
Gartner evaluation criteria, Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute, recognizes the vendors who, we feel, aren’t just responding to what buyers ask for today, but who are shaping what they’ll need tomorrow. As Gartner puts it in describing this quadrant: "Visionaries demonstrate decisive plans to invest in product innovation that meets the needs of today’s dynamic work environment and future requirements. The entrants into this quadrant offer advancements such as AI-driven data collection and insight analysis, next-level dynamically linked dashboards informed by machine learning (ML) models, and the potential for significant productivity gains through natural language processing (NLP) interfaces." We believe that being recognized in this quadrant, four years in a row, tells us our roadmap and our customers’ realities are staying aligned even as the ground shifts underneath this market.
Why This Matters To Us Across the Business
This placement matters most to the people running PMOs and portfolios day to day, but the underlying problem APMR is built to solve isn’t confined to any one function.
Every team that runs strategic work, marketing, operations, service delivery, product, and beyond, is wrestling with the same gap: the distance between what leadership decides and what teams actually execute. As businesses navigate real transformation pressure, the organizations that win are the ones that can manage that full continuum, from strategic intent all the way down to daily execution, without losing fidelity along the way.
That’s what makes APMR a market worth watching closely, regardless of your function.
A Market With No Single Vendor Who Can Speak to Both Sides
Here’s how we think about our position, independent of Gartner analysis: the vendors competing in APMR have generally emerged from one of two lineages, Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) or Collaborative Work Management (CWM).
We believe no single company has yet covered the full arc from ideation and strategic decision-making through to structured, AI-guided execution. Most vendors are strong on one end of that spectrum or the other, not both. Until now.
What Isn’t Working Today
Customers who’ve invested in standalone APMR, SPM, or CWM tools have told us, consistently, that the tools don’t talk to each other the way their business needs. Strategy gets planned in one system, executed in another, and reported on in a third, and by the time the numbers reconcile, the plan is already out of date.
Traditional SPM tools, in particular, have earned a reputation for being powerful but rigid: heavy to configure, hard to adapt, and slow to reflect what’s actually happening on the ground. Customers have told us directly that they want their strategy layer grounded in real execution data, not a parallel universe of plans that drift further from reality every quarter. This tells us that the appetite for connected, adaptive planning is growing.
Why We Built Wrike SPM
We believe Wrike was recognized as a Visionary, for the fourth year, on the strength of our execution-layer capabilities alone.
Our recent launch of Wrike SPM, powered by Shibumi® is the next step in that same vision: an explicit strategy layer built on real execution data already flowing through Wrike, not a bolted-on planning tool that lives disconnected from the work itself. We think Wrike is one of the only platforms positioned to bring strategy and execution together on one foundation.
What’s Next
We feel that being named a Visionary for four consecutive years is a milestone for us, one we don’t take lightly, and it’s also a checkpoint, not a finish line. We believe the next phase of this market belongs to platforms that can hold strategy and execution together, natively, with AI woven through both, and that’s the bet we’ve made with Wrike SPM.
Thank you to our customers, whose feedback continues to shape this roadmap, and to our teams who keep executing against it.
