What sets Wrike apart is what sits behind our AI: the Work Intelligence® Graph. It connects work items, workflows, teams, and data into a shared system of record. Wrike AI improves task and project management by automating routine work, surfacing what needs attention, and helping teams work faster with fewer errors. It can summarize updates, suggest task details, detect risks, and highlight priorities. AI agents can also take actions on your behalf, helping create, update, and organize work automatically. Wrike does not use customer data to train or tune any generative AI models and does not allow our vendors to do so. Generative AI features, such as AI content creation, are powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, which has stringent security standards. Learn more here.

It’s built in. There is no separate app to buy, install, or log into — Wrike AI lives inside the workspace your team already uses.

Wrike AI is organized into two tiers:

• AI Essentials: Everyday assistance such as content creation and editing, comment summaries, AI highlights, natural-language form and rule generation, AI boards, and mobile inbox prioritization. Included free (subject to fair use) on every paid plan.
• AI Elite: The higher-value capabilities: Wrike Copilot, AI agents, widget generation, and the Wrike Whiteboard assistant. Available from the Business plan up, with a monthly allowance of actions pooled across your account.

Wrike AI agents are autonomous, admin-controlled workmates that you point at a space, project, or folder. Unlike an AI assistant such as Wrike Copilot, which acts on demand, AI agents watch for a trigger, read the surrounding context, decide what to do, and act— typically within 2-5 seconds. 

Our out-of-the-box agents can:

• Flag risks, bottlenecks, and incomplete requests before they become problems
• Classify and route incoming work to the right folder, team, or workflow stage
• Post comments, update custom fields, and change statuses
• Send email via Gmail or Outlook — including to external addresses — and post to Slack or Microsoft Teams
• Start approval flows and assign approvers

Agents see more than the item that triggered them. They can read parent custom fields, sibling items and subtasks, dependency chains, approval status, and user profile data — so an agent triggered on a subtask can check the parent project’s “Client” field to decide who should own it.

You can start from a prebuilt agent (these exist for triage, intake, project coordination, missed deadlines, risk and more). Or you can describe what you want in plain language and let the conversational builder create it.

Three things need to be in place:

• Generative AI enabled for the account: Only the account owner can switch this on.
• The Wrike AI addendum: This is a one-time acceptance of the AI terms and conditions.
• Space admin permissions: Agents are configured at the space level, so you create them in a space where you’re an admin. Anyone with space admin rights in that space can edit them.

This is the most common reason someone doesn’t see the AI agents button when a colleague does: agent configuration is a space admin capability by design, so agents can’t be deployed across teams without oversight. The agents themselves act on behalf of your whole team once running.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant work directly with your Wrike data — so you can ask your assistant what’s overdue, turn meeting notes into assigned tasks, or spin up a folder-and-project structure by describing it, without leaving the assistant.

On security, the design is deliberately conservative:

• Your Wrike permissions are enforced automatically — the MCP server can only reach data you can already see in Wrike.
• No data is stored or cached by the Wrike MCP Server.
• All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS, and OAuth tokens are stored locally on your device.
• Setup is a one-time admin task per organization; individual users then sign in with their own Wrike credentials.

You don’t need specialized skills — simply describe what you want in plain language, and the conversational agent builder creates the agent. A workable first prompt looks like: “Watch the Creative Requests folder. When a new request comes in without a due date or a brief attached, post a comment asking the requester for it and set the status to Pending Info.” The builder assembles the trigger, scope, and actions from that, and you tell it where to save and activate the agent.

Using the conversational builder itself does not consume AI Elite actions or carry an additional cost — only the agent’s runs are metered.
