View Your Active Tasks in Your Favorite Calendar Software

Published by Valerie  |  Thursday, 05 June, 2008
We are working hard for you to help you become more organized and productive. That is why we have added a new feature to Wrike – the iCalendar export.

iCalendar is the open standard for sharing calendar data. It allows you to access your tasks from a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office Outlook, Apple iCal, Google Calendar, and Mozilla Sunbird. Once you subscribe to the iCalender feed, tasks get updated in your calendar, if any task is rescheduled in your Workspace in Wrike. The frequency of those updates depends on your calendar settings. In case with Outlook, calendar gets updated as often as you receive emails.

You can export tasks from all folders at once or from a specific folder. To subscribe to iCalendar feed of all folders, click on the iCal icon in the right upper corner of your Wrike workplace, when “My Folders” is open. By doing this, you export all active tasks assigned to you to your calendar.

If you want to subscribe to iCalendar feed of a specific folder, click on this folder in the left pane to open, and then click on the “iCal” link. All the tasks from this folder and its subfolders are transported to your calendar.

I created a number of tasks that were assigned to team members. I did the ical sync to Outlook but I don't see those tasks appear on the cal.
Only one that appears is those assigned to myself.
How can I have a calendar of the tasks for the project synced?

    Alvin,
The calendar feed is personal by design. Since calendar programs do not have Wrike's filtering capabilities, in general, one doesn't want to see all tasks of his team in his calendar, that might bee too much of a noise.
If we get more requests for the "Assigned to All" calendar feed, we may implement it in the future.

I'm using Thunderbird with the Lightning extension to subscribe to the iCal feed. I'm a little puzzled that Wrike "tasks" show up as "events" on the Lightning calendar, and not in the "tasks" view. Also, if a Wrike task has a start date, it shows up as an all-day event on each day between the start and end dates. Is there a way for Wrike tasks to show up as iCal tasks, and not events?

    Hi Mike,

Outlook 2007 has problems understanding iCalendar "tasks" (VTODO). Also, since the iCalendar feed works in one way, calendar option works more naturally than task option.

I would like a calendar feed for "Assigned to All" especially for individual project folders

    Chris,

We've added this feature to our log, and your vote to it.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Hi There,

Just to give my 2 cents worth...I would also be very interested in an "Assigned to All" iCalendar option. Also the ability to distinguish between completed tasks and outstanding tasks and who they are assigned to.

    Regards,

    Claire

    Claire,
Thanks for your feedback and idea! We'll look into it when working on the new Wrike's UI. Meanwhile, we recorded it in our requests database.

I have tried to sync with Google Calendar but I am missing a guide on how to do an auto-sync. Currently, it seems that only manual syncs are supported by Google Calendar.
